    [caesar] @jnurthen Had a chat with the devs. Apparently the whole page is a form or something... an AngularJS thing, supposedly.

    Ugh. They didn't put role application on it did they?

    [caesar] They talked a lot about roles, but I don't think it was "application". They did specifically mention forms.

    can anyone here confirm if aXe tests links for acceptable hover/focus states? It doesnt seem to do it but it looks like there is a test set up for it?? When I run the test on a link that should fail it doesnt throw a violation.
  7. That is the first article I've seen where a major player in the VR world actually brings up accessibility in terms of VR
  8. I'm not sure I agree that Speech Recognition and Speech Synthesis are the only avenues for things

    @pkra @sideshowbarker at the W3C had some specific questions about mathml/mathjax/latex which he asked me, you immediately came to mind as having much better knowledge about these things than myself, is it possible for you to take a look at the questions?

    can anyone here confirm if aXe tests links for acceptable hover/focus states?

    No but we can certainly add something. We actually discussed testing for focus states this week, @WilcoFiers had some ideas for how it could be done. @seanus1138 can you file an issue on Github with some sample code? Thank you so much :)

    well - apart from the alt text on the spacer and the vertical spacer... it is important to be able to distinguish them
  28. zakim-robot
    @zakim-robot
    Oct 14 18:44
    [garcialo] at least they use buttons to dismiss their feedback modals

    Oct 14 19:44
    [michiel] no, you, jessebeach, and mck, all agreed upon 2 spaces.
  44. [michiel] And I’m not changing it again.
  45. [michiel] Next time we should get a scribe for hallway conversations :P

    LOL
  47. zakim-robot
    @zakim-robot
    Oct 14 19:45
    [michiel] Matt’s reasoning was that it was easier to divide by 2, than it was 4.
  48. [michiel] Oh, btw, I also extracted all respec config stuff into a js file.
  49. [michiel] So content now starts at line 15 instead of 175 :)

  54. [jessebeach] Is anyone else using the jsx-a11y eslint plugin?
  55. [jessebeach] So far, seems very well done. I'm doing some analysis of our codebase over time to see how errors with the rules increases over time

    [stephenwyattbush] Is there a good tool for evaluating the level of compliance a website has with an a11y standard, such as WCAG AA? It would be very helpful to be able to quantify the level of compliance my website currently has, to quantify improvements over time. Something similar to the Lighthouse tool for measuring and improving web performance
  60. James Nurthen
    @jnurthen
    Oct 14 22:15
    there are plenty of tools but the problem is that only a small amount of WCAG can be automatically tested
  61. so you could look for a level of non-compliance (for those parts that can be automatically tested) but you will never get to a level of compliance
  62. ....also I owe you an email - I've been super busy with our internal accessibility conference but that finished yesterday so I have a few cycles now
