[robdodson] @michiel sorry for the slow reply. I was using VS Code in that video. I love it =D

[i-like-robots] Hello all - we're beginning to implement closed captions and transcripts on our videos but because they're done by humans they often come several hours after the video is made available. Because we're not allowed to slow down the publishing process we're thinking of implementing some 'coming soon, check back later' text. Is that sensible? Would implementing such messaging be better as a caption or placed somewhere else in the page?

[juliettepiazza] What are your usual recruitment cost and incentive for participants with disabilities?

does anyone have a list of changes to WCAG in 2.1 that includes what levels the new rules will be?
  5. I've seen a list, but not with the A/AA/AAA levels included

and I think I dislike that responsive design is effectively required in WCAG. Mobile support I understand, but some sites send different content to different devices, or redirect to separate sites. I feel like those options should still be available.

[tiffy23] Hello @i-like-robots - would using automatic captions (like YouTube offers) be an option for the time between publishing the video and implementing captions by humans?
  8. [i-like-robots] @tiffy23 We gave that a go but unfortunately nobody was happy with the results - it's tricky when there will be jargon and acronyms!
  9. [albert] @tiffy23 all automated captions i've ever seen leave something out of context. it varies, but its certainly not perfect.
  10. [i-like-robots] We will probably try automatic captions for retrospectively updating the archive

[fstorr] @powrsurg The WCAG 2.1 site has all the levels listed: https://www.w3.org/TR/WCAG21/ Is that not what you’re after?

yeah, I missed it. When I was on that page I didn't see a "what's new" section, but the ones I see there that I learned are new came from there.
  13. er are listed there with their levels

Hi, a11y slackers. Do any of you know any (good) resources on diversity in the a11y (web) developer community?

[michiel] @robdodson: ah, I’ll have to check that out. How is its a11y?

[robdodson] @michiel good question. I feel like my screen reader skills are not good enough to gauge whether it's a nice coding experience or not. But I've found the team to be extremely responsive so if there are a11y issues they might be interested to hear them
  17. [robdodson] it comes with a built-in high contrast theme for folks who want that
  18. [robdodson] and it's easy to adjust font size
  19. [robdodson] that's a screenshot of the high contrast theme
  20. [michiel] Cool. Will definitely have a look, thanks!

[garcialo] @powrsurg Just so you know, those are only proposed…so neither the SCs or Levels are finalized yet

ahh, nice to know. That said, I thought their was something about them getting more finalized on/after the 31st?

[garcialo] ah, I don’t know much about that bit :p
