[spell] Quick question! I noticed on NVDA/FF that the placeholder attribute value is not read aloud, but on NVDA/Chrome it is. Is this simply because FF does not expose this value to AT? Will they? Thanks in advance!

[herin] @spell : NVDA ignores Placeholder in Firefox if Label /Aria-Label /Aria-Labelledby are present
  3. [herin] It reads placeholder if none of them are here
  4. [herin] I think its a precedence issue

[indrekpaas] Hi @stevef! I read the tweet you posted about React and screen reader accessibility (https://twitter.com/stevefaulkner/status/857806416333164544) and it got me wondering about how do screen reader users expect to experience web apps—not websites built as web apps, but tools and utilities? Would be very grateful if you or someone else could shed some light. Thank you!

[alastc] Does anyone know if web components make it easier or harder for users to override font-family? I’d guess they don’t make much difference, e.g. running an extension or user-style-sheet would work as well as a page without web components?

[paracor] Question: I'm currently working on a project to organize and map the global disability/accessibility community in one place. If anyone is aware of any disability/accessibility news, events, or organizations please send them my way. Hope to hear from you and have a great day!

[gemma] Question: I'm interested in learning the best way to display key-value pairs. We're planning on displaying a list of user attributes and their values and had originally considered using definition list elements but heard feedback that this wasn't the best approach for screenreaders. Does anyone have recommendations on how to approach displaying this type of information?

[tiffy23] @gemma If it is tabular data, you could use a table. My second idea would also have been a definition list, depending on the type of data.

[emplums] Regarding the alt="" bug in Chrome (see convo here: https://web-a11y.slack.com/archives/C042TSFGN/p1493214626678869) - Does anyone know how long it usually takes Chrome to solve issues like this? The jsx-a11y eslint plugin is currently advising people to use alt="" instead of role="presentation"

[marcysutton] It depends on how complicated the fix is and the level of impact on users as far as I can tell, the bug I filed for SVG title not being exposed to AT got fixed within a few months. An alt text regression like that is pretty serious IMO
