[dereklewis] I'm in the process of developing a new component for the AMP Project (love it or hate it) and I'd be interested in knowing what is the recommended approach to take when validating non-standard HTML? The validators I've been using choke on AMP syntax, hence, automated testing of the component in its native test environment is tricky

Is there another way to mask user input without using the <input type="password"...> this causes the screen reader to announce the input as a password, but I'm encountering masking being used for things like account and tax id numbers. Sort of running on empty at the moment and hoping someone may have bumped into this before.
