[ldavis] @michiel and @stevef here is that sample test for JAWS 17.x and Chrome 47.X https://output.jsbin.com/zipixa/3

[ldavis] This was around trying to eliminate JAWS and audio from speaking/playing audio at the same time

VoiceOver has the same issue, even with the native player.

James Craig was proposing an aria-playsmedia attribute or something like that top solve this but i think we punted it to 2.0

aria-startsmedia was the proposal but it has indeed been punted to 2.0

@ldavis what is the issue? With JAWS and chrome 47 appears to work fine, there is an issue with jaws/Firefox as the scrubbers are exposed as progress bars and jaws announces the values over the audio ( will file bug)
  9. MichielBijl
    11:38
@stevefaulkner the issue is that the play button is announced (after being pressed) at the same time the audio starts playing.

Ask users if this is an issue, remember that SR users generally listen to SR speach at a MUCH higher rate than we do, so the button announcement would be over in less than a second

Good point, but what about short audio files, like the one in the example.
  12. MichielBijl
    14:13
But like you said, should ask users.

[fstorr] If he can get the quality of the transcription up to scratch, those glasses will be amazing.

I hope so, but the IndieGoGo campaign failed. So don't know what will happen now.

I’m a totally blind developer who works on web based applications that get sold as enterprise software. I’m primarily a back-end developer but am also responsible for 508 assessments. I know the 508 standards are going to be updated to correspond to the WCAG 2.0 guidelines. My company may be willing to get me training on these if I can find a good course that would go over the new standards, does anyone have ideas for available training for someone who is generally familiar with web development but is not an experienced front end developer? Specifically I’m interested in how to test existing apps for accessibility followed by how to improve the accessibility based on what was found.
