@michielBijl Tahoma has issues with Il too. And it's got a small x-height, and Window-only or purchase. (Actually I dunno if it's been added to Macs, might be Mac now too).

And for some reason the et annoys me. It shouldn't, being one of the few fonts to show where ampersands came from, but every time I see it I cringe.

@StommePoes “In 2007, Apple announced that Tahoma would be bundled with the next version of Mac OS X v10.5 ("Leopard").”

[dean] Hey all - I currently work as a Sr. UX Designer for a company in Amsterdam that builds apps for people who have difficulties/are unable to speak. I’ve been interested in Accessibility for many years, and have performed a number of accessibility reviews for my former employer. My goal was to keep broad in UX, and eventually narrow into Accessibility - until a job came up working for a company within the field. I wonder if any of you have seen this, http://online.ahs.illinois.edu/iadp/ - and could offer any input on whether you feel it is something that is worth pursuing?

@dean what I know is that uni of Illinois has some people that are serious web accessibility researchers and they develop a number of tools for acc testing. Jon Gunderson is an academic at the uni and a major contributor and long term accessibility advocate. Beyond that I don't know about the course

    @a11ydoer also works there.

so would best-practice for using the date input type at this current time be to use the native browser version if supported, and then if not supported (like in Firefox) include a JavaScript/CSS based date picker that passes all aXe tests?
  8. powrsurg
    17:20
... and not only passes the test, but actually works for a keyboard user, which jQuery UI's datepicker apparently does not ...
  9. MichielBijl
    17:44
@StommePoes new test result column is in place. Can you check if you agree?

    19:54
@dean wow I'd be interested in knowing the company making aac stuff, it's a field I know little of and didn't know anyone closeby worked on that
  12. StommePoes
    19:54
@michielBijl is that a sushi in the favicon?
  13. MichielBijl
    19:56
    @StommePoes yeah think so.
  14. StommePoes
    19:56
@michielBijl test 3 where is the title?
  15. MichielBijl
    19:56
    It's from rawgit
  16. StommePoes
    19:56
    <svg viewBox="0 0 100 100" class="fa fa-ie"><use xlink:href="#fa-internet-explorer"></use></svg>
  17. StommePoes
    19:56
did you mean <title> tag or title="foo"?
  18. MichielBijl
    19:57
    tag
  19. MichielBijl
    19:57
    Did I write attribute?
  20. StommePoes
    19:57
    sorry that's test 5
  21. StommePoes
    19:57
    test 5 I don't see a title attribute
  22. StommePoes
    19:57
    I also don't see a title tag
  23. StommePoes
    19:57
    <title>me</title>
  24. MichielBijl
    19:59
They're both inside the SVG at the top of the page
  25. StommePoes
    19:59
Also, I think test 6 might either need to be redone where an anchor is inside the svg or we have that as a separate thing.
  26. StommePoes
    19:59
    Top of the page??
  27. StommePoes
    19:59
    I'm looking in the test
  28. MichielBijl
    19:59
But I see I wrote attribute, that should element
  29. StommePoes
    19:59
    I don't see that either
  30. StommePoes
    19:59
in test 5, what should we have?
  31. StommePoes
    20:00
    <svg viewBox="0 0 100 100" class="fa fa-ie"><use xlink:href="#fa-internet-explorer"></use></svg> or <svg viewBox="0 0 100 100" class="fa fa-ie"><title>internet explorer</title></svg>
  32. MichielBijl
    20:00
    It's in the SVG declaration
  33. MichielBijl
    20:00
    line 11-34
  34. MichielBijl
    20:01
    Yeah that's it
  35. MichielBijl
    20:01
    All tests reference that thing.
  36. StommePoes
    20:02
    I don't see how that's a title element?
  37. MichielBijl
    20:02
It's a title element inside the reference?
  38. MichielBijl
    20:02
    <title>internet explorer</title>?
  39. StommePoes
    20:02
    I don't see that
  40. StommePoes
    20:02
I created that out of my head
  41. StommePoes
    20:03
but I don't see it anywhere
  42. MichielBijl
    20:03
Did you pull all new changes?
  43. StommePoes
    20:12
I think I'm going to add a manual one
  44. MichielBijl
    20:14
    Like a test 7?
  45. StommePoes
    21:12
    yeah
  46. StommePoes
    21:12
    sushi
  47. MichielBijl
    21:16
I need more sushi in my life
  48. StommePoes
    21:17
    don't we all
  49. StommePoes
    21:17
    did you add the sushi?
  50. StommePoes
    21:19
must be on the rawgit's homedir https://rawgit.com/favicon.ico
  51. MichielBijl
    21:19
No, I only added cat.svg, to meet our minimal quota of n+1 cats.
  52. StommePoes
    21:20
the browsers are just showing what they found when they looked, in absense of a <link> tag, in the homedir for something called favicon.ico, and it's there and it's a sushi
  53. StommePoes
    21:20
    sushi
