@caesar I believe I've heard others here say that applying a role on a list causes problems. Place the role=menu on a parent div.

[robdodson] Hey folks, do any of you happen to know if there is an ideal way to produce accessible mathematical notation? Question I received via email:

You can easily display/render formatted math based on MathML + polyfill such as MathJax but screen reader has partial support at best.
On the other hand, most screen reader can read math formatted in LaTex quite easily, but on the other hand, sighted users would find it much less readable.

I'm not at all familiar with the topic but was curious if anyone here has experience and advice?

  8. [marcysutton] I'd get in touch with @sinabahram, he knows a lot about the state of things

[jiatyan] @robdodson are you writing an application to produce MathML or using an application to produce it?

[karlgroves] +1 to Marcy’s recommendation of talking to Sina.
  11. [robdodson] I'm not personally building an app, someone just emailed me out of the blue. I'll ping Sina, thanks!

[jiatyan] @robdodson OK. LaTeX is almost a 1:1 translation to MathML and thus there are converters and authoring tools, including wysiwyg editors which will accept both. Google the highed ed sites. MathJax and MathPlayer are used quite often for browsers which can't read MathML.

I know it's not a11y related, but I was just told we were going to need to do some type of geofiltering (their words) for a new client but they had no idea what that would be and my Googling isn't seeing anything yet and I was curious if anyone had an idea what they might be referring to
