[ccwilcox] Xcode also has a Touch Bar simulator https://help.apple.com/xcode/mac/8.1/#/dev7a8cb8a8c

@michiel I thought it was you, I remember someone who was on a Mac, running Windows in a VM, trying to test either NVDA or JAWS or both. A few of the keystrokes needed by the SR didn't match the Mac keyboard going to Windows.
  3. My colleague doesn't have problems yet, he just told me he was planning o using a VM since nobody at work have windows machines, and I remembered a few keys had problems. There was also a solution for it but because I don't remember who that was again, I wanted to ask.

[sophieschoice_slack] I don´t like Facebook uses a picture with the word Hack at their Accessibility-group. Accessibility is NOT hacking! #rant

[michiel] StommePoes: if you use VM ware you can map caps lock to another key.

[beth] Does anyone know if this article is still relevant? I’m looking for info on why Tab panels don’t announce to a screen reader (TalkBack or VoiceOver) that a tab has been selected when viewing on a mobile device. I have checked this with multiple examples that work perfectly on desktop only to find that they do not work the same on a mobile device
  7. [beth] Demo from Paul J Adam of Deque

    Example from Nicolas Hoffman
    https://a11y.nicolas-hoffmann.net/tabs/#keyboard_navigation

  8. [beth] It tells me that a tab is selected… BUT it does not announce when I make a different selection.

@jnurthen Just get the cheaper model and upgrade the hard drive yourself. That's what I did with my ThinkPad

[marcysutton] On the mapping caps lock key thing...I was never able to get that to work. Tried multiple times. Ended up finding it is MUCH easier to just buy a third-party Windows keyboard with an Insert key. And it also turns out they are much more ergonomic than Apple keyboards.

[michiel] Beth: the Authoring Practices Guide one works pretty well on touch devices.
  12. [michiel] I have an update planned this weekend; will take out the delay it currently has.
  13. [michiel] Which is an option at the moment, so can easily turn it off, but I want to rewrite a part of it to make it more efficient.
  14. [michiel] If you have any problems with it I'd love feedback.

[beth] @michiel I’m experiencing the same issue with yours as well. It must be a bug with mobile devices because I know you know your stuff. Like I said, they all work perfectly on a desktop, but in mobile it announces that the first tab is selected, I swipe to move to the next tab and double-tap to select it, but the screen reader is completely silent at this point. If I swipe to the next tab and back, it does announce that it is selected, it’s just not announcing the change in state. I’m using TalkBack on a Samsung Galaxy S4, running Android 5.0.1.
