@zakim-robot Hi, I'm hoping that I'm interpreting your question correctly. So to be sure I understand, i'm envisioning a red hammer and if i select it, it opens a modal. I think that you're asking about a description for the tool opening a modal - no? If yes, then it would be helpful to insert a title="Opens dialog" (although if this is going to be used for mobile, title attributes are not supported in mobile). So perhaps add it after the "Choose a color and tool. Opens dialog" Hope this helps. It's a bit hard to fully answer without fully seeing the context. (also wondering about the "Choose a color and tool" but will insert foot here :D) p.s. I never thanked you for helping with the password issue, so feel free to bombard me with UX questions, i'm always happy to help :)

Hey there, i have a screen reader behavior/code question for everyone. I have a menu, that when you click reveals your personal assistants contact information. Only the email address is clickable, so when the menu opens focus goes to the email address. If I press my up arrow key with the objective of reading my assistants name and address, the whole page moves up rather than me being able to read the content line by line (this is with JAWS/IE so far). Has anyone encountered this before? Part of me is wondering if JAWS is maybe having trouble switching modes? or is there something specifically in the code that needs to happen? I've run into this several times lately. Feelin like a mechanic :D

@zakim-robot I think it depends on the context. When testing dropdowns with state abbreviations my screen reader sounds like it's getting in touch with it's inner pirate, so i have been asking for the states to be written in full but if the business is married to abbreviations or the dev team don't have the time to change it than we try to override it with hidden text, but with care. But again I'd say it depends what's at stake. If the users task depends on knowing the state than it would matter, but if it's just someone's profile information probably wouldn't matter as much (unless it were a dating site -ha!)
