agenda review
Background and current status
<kaz> Kaz's slides
review of current relevant industry standards
review of W3C web platform standards
kaz: W3C Web of Things is technology for interconnection of IoT silos
Web based Digital Twins
Kaz: There is a need for a standardized vocabulary
kaz: Today we will get input and status from stakeholders
Stakeholder updates
SBCO
kasuya-san: gives overview of SBCO activities
… SBCO is a consortium of 112 companies,12 founding companies
… There is a data model/API sub-group
… questions/comments?
IEC SC3D
Yamashita-san: explains activities of IEC SC3D
… The main work is on a Common Data Dictionary (CDD)
… The standard will be published in a data based format
… explains Domain Ontologies
… collaboration with other groups and committees
… profile of Joint Working Groups
… call for participation on upcoming activities
seb: Is the content available as RDF?
Yamashita-san: There is export to RDF
ECHONET
kaz: Echonet has been participating in the WoT Plugfest this week
<kaz> Dr. Pham gives brief description on WoT Plugfest collaboration as part of the faculty from JAIST university
pham: The smart home market is fragmented
… explains Echonet and Echonet-lite API
pham: explains Web of Things integration with Echonet-lite API
kaz: what is the focus of WoT collaboration?
pham: expanding use cases
OGC-Geonovum
bart: explains the local digital twin concept
bart: demo of a simulation of a cloudburst weather event
… there is an open market concept for implementations of interfaces
… the concept is interoperable digital twins
… questions?
next steps
kaz: any ideas or comments
mjk: we set out in this group and in the charter to figure out ow to put things together. How to implement digital twins and smart cities interoperable and using web technology.
kaz: What could be best practices from industry PoV and so on.
sebastian: there is a heterogenous, diverse landscape, which makes it expensive to make equipment.
… I recommend the WoT to simplify smart city tech. It's a W3C standard.
kaz: I talked with DID. They are also interested in a web-based approach.
… Also Verifiable Credentials (VC)
shuji: TC 268 and subcommittees, IEC side, and JTC1 joint committees. In March (remote meeting) and later in-person meetings.
… Will merge smart-cities activities into that.
… Also JTC4.
… There is an ontology group, also meeting in March.
… Tomorrow evening session also.
kaz: About the seminar tomorrow: IEC Seminar: Collaboration on terminology and ontology-associated standards for smart cities
… We need to continue talking with JTC
toshiakikoike: In the charter is mentioned also automotive group, but that group is closed.
kaz: W3C had an automotive WG, but not anymore. But we can still think about coop with automotive industry organization
johannesW: Automotive would be good indeed. Is there an initiative?
linda_v_d_Brink: Our presentation was mostly about OGC models, about large scale. Other people talk about smart homes and smaller scale.
… OGC has a lot of standards, some them might be more relevant for this work.
… Was our presentation relevant?
kaz: We cannot do everything. We need to concentrate on what we can do to improve things.
mjk: Geonovum pres was useful. We need to look at interaction between techs.
… Look at existing standards and new standards.
kaz: Look at what is missing from the web side.
mjk: What makes cities interoperable, what is overlap, cross-domain with automotive and smart homes.
… Find informative use cases.
… Not everything, but pieces of applications.
… Cross-domain web applications, interoperable, accessible.
… It is getting broad, but also narrowing down. Funding where web tech is appropriate.
