Phil Archer: Works for GS1 that has been around in various capacities. Brent Zundel has been primary chair for years, but supports him in that function. His job is to foster openness and ensure that everyone feels heard throughout their time in the group.
Task Forces
Phil Archer: There are now several task forces setup. Most standardization work is done in the task forces. If you are on the call today and you are not in a task force, but are interested in the specification that it governs, please reach out to Ivan Herman to be added to it.
<Phil Archer> Task Forces
Ivan Herman: Please send me an email to request an invitation to task force(s) of interest.
… You can be in as many task forces as you want.
Phil Archer: Task forces: VCALM, VC Barcodes, DPP, Recognized Entities, Render Method. Please reach out to Ivan Herman@w3.org if you would like to join any of these.
Phil Archer: Issues are raised and discussed in GitHub.
Ivan Herman: If you have a GitHub handle, please link it to your W3C account via the W3C portal. It helps tremendously for provisioning permissions.
Brent Zundel: Echoes Ivan Herman's point.
Phil Archer: Reminder that consensus on issues does NOT require unanimous approval. It just means that most people are on board with it.
First Public Working Draft for Recognized Entities
<Manu Sporny> https://
Manu Sporny: The Recognized Entities (formerly called Verifiable Issuers and Verifiers). The purpose is to enable recognition of entities and the actions that they can perform. Had a long debate over spec naming and landed on Recognized Entities. We ran a poll in the task force yesterday to gather interest in participating in the spec. Today, we need to raise a resolution to decide to publish the First Public Working Draft (FPWD) for the spec. We are aiming for a publication date of 2027-05-12.
<Manu Sporny> PROPOSAL: Publish the Recognized Entities specification (https://
Ivan Herman: This spec needs to have W3C members as editors. We will published with one editor, but eventually we need to add W3C members to the editor list.

Task Force leaders meeting
Manu Sporny: To work with Ivan Herman to get FPWD for Recognized Entities specification published.
Manu Sporny: Reminder to nudge European folks to attend face-to-face call in Brussels in June.
Phil Archer: We are looking to convene task forces during the F2F meeting in Brussels. Will keep you posted in logistics.
Carolynn Bernier: Let's try to minimize task force meetings for the sake of time.
Manu Sporny: Agrees with Carolynn Bernier.
Brent Zundel: We don't need everyone to be present in the task force calls if that helps. We could also coordinate asynchronously if that is preferable, but not entirely confident in this approach.
Face to Face, Brussels
<Phil Archer> Basic info https://
<Phil Archer> https://
Phil Archer: If you plan to attend the F2F call (in-person or remotely), please sign up for the Brussels face-to-face meeting here: https://
… Even if you have already filled out the form, please revisit it to fill out an entry in the tab task force tab.
Phil Archer: Please note that threat modeling will also be discussed at the F2F meeting.
Manu Sporny: The VCALM group has already started working on threat models at a high-level. We plan to have a deeper dive on data modeling at the F2F meeting. We plan to circulate a document prior to the F2F meeting.
… We should also put together a document outlining the items that folks are working on prior to F2F, so that that folks are prepared to engage meaningfully.
Phil Archer: Ivan Herman has prepared an overview document that could use some polishing.
Phil Archer: Notes Manu Sporny's desire to include more folks from various verticals, as F2Fs are valuable in ways that virtual calls are not. Room capacity is 28, but we will do our best to encourage and accommodate as many people as possible.
<Phil Archer> Social activity idea
Phil Archer: Belgium is known primarily for chocolate and beer. On Wednesday, late afternoon, I propose that we go to Belgian Beer World (https://
… GS1 may be able to subsidize that, but will confirm soon.
GDC
<Phil Archer> https://
Phil Archer: Phil has clearance to attend GDC (https://
Brent Zundel: If this is anything like it was last year, it is organized by SDO. So, we should coordinate with W3C to ensure that we have slots in the agenda. Otherwise, we will not be able to participate in it as an organization.
Ivan Herman: W3C intends to participate here. Phil should engage with Philippe le Hégaret (plh) to plan for this.
Phil Archer: Will coordinate with plh for GDC, but would like to have someone with him to present. Please reach out if you are interested.

<Manu Sporny> Deprecate digestSRI in v2.1 -- w3c/
Manu Sporny: Raised an issue in VC data model to deprecate use of digestSRI in VCDM 2.1, as it is creating confusion in downstream specs, so please review this issue to chime in: w3c/
Phil Archer: Thanks everyone for meeting today and see you next week.
