    hi michiel. is IRC the hip choice these days?

    Aren't we all on IRC?
  7. I thought gitter was an IRC system deep down?

    Sigh. VO+FF skipping over elements with aria-label + role=application.
  9. @jkva Ah, I didn't know.

    Jun 10 08:34
    @pkra: I'm not sure, though =)
  11. Hence the question marks :P

    ... and when there's focus on the element, it reads the label.
  13. double sigh.
  14. Lazy question: Is it worth testing non-Safari browsers + VO on iOS?
  15. Sigh, VO+FF also doesn't support live regions.

    Installing JAWS on a VM. A reliably questionable experience.

    I still can't disassociate "blank" with "quack"

    [michiel] Things not to say during performance review with Steve: “So how are you getting along with all your colleagues?” “I'm getting along with pretty much everybody, just that Steve guy is a pain…”
  19. [michiel] pkra: IRCCloud is just easier to manage all the different platforms than having to have three separate apps.
  20. [michiel] And I use IRC for W3C stuff anyway.
  21. [michiel] Just makes things easier :)

    @michiel so the hip thing -- being all productive and stuff :wink2:

    [michiel] I was productive before it was cool.

    I suppose it's a compliment that JAWS does some deep hack specifically for MathJax on IE, pushing its own math voicing solution and ignoring all standards-compliant ways for making the output accessible -- and then can't actually handle the MathML it extracts from MathJax leading to total bork. Sigh.

    It's always nice when things go out of there way to cause trouble
  28. also, IRC is where all the young kids are at these days, right?
  29. the cool ones at least

    Whew.
  31. That was hellish.
  32. (NVDA+ JAWS + WindowEyes + VoiceOver + ChromeVox + ORCA) x (IE10 + IE11 + Edge + FF + Chrome + Safari) x (WinXP + WIn 7 + Win 8.1 + Win 10 + OSX 10.10 + iOS 9.1 + Ubuntu 16.04) = :fire:

    what were you testing on XP?
  34. I figure if you were still testing XP you'd include IE 8-9 too
  35. Also, no Android? =/

    What are your results like for chromevox on FF or orca on Win 7 ;)
  37. Peter Krautzberger
    @pkra
    Jun 10 14:41
    @powesurg bad habit. I only tested NVDA + FF and Chrome since neither JAWS nor Window Eyes support XP anymore -- and our tool starts at IE10.
  38. @jnurthen :speak_no_evil:

    lucky
  40. Google Analytics says that we had 113 hits for IE8 for the last 30 days yet it's still supported
  41. for us
  42. IE 11 makes up 85.96% of our IE traffic, that's good to see
  43. Peter Krautzberger
    @pkra
    Jun 10 14:44
    @powrsurg it wasn't a thorough test ;-)
  44. MathJax can still support IE8 but the speech-rule-engine (part of this tool) does not.
  45. Basically, xpath is broken on IE. But starting with IE10 we can patch it.

    FWIW, now I've tested Chrome and FF on Android, too.
  48. Sadly, the result is not too shiny.
  49. but since we couldn't target mobile yet, it's a bit relative.
