    [emplums] Anyone know how to select a Safari extension button from the toolbar with a keyboard/VoiceOver? Pressing enter seems to do nothing (thinking face emoji)

    Space is the normal key to press a button.

    [cameron.fawcett] Has anyone experienced an interesting UX issue with one of the more recent versions of NVDA + Firefox where the skip to main content link content isn’t read out when it has visual focus when forward tabbing?

    It seems to only be read out when the main HTML document first receives focus (i.e., when tabbing from the browser toolbar), then pressing tab one more time the link has visual focus but is not read out by NVDA, then pressing tab one more time will read out the next tab stop. When shift + tabbing back to the skip to link, it IS read out though.

    I’m experiencing this one every site, but can test it on https://www.paciellogroup.com/

    [kcollins] @cameron.fawcett yes, I've been experiencing this too (on a dev site, so unfortunately no public url to share).
  5. [cameron.fawcett] Yeah we first noticed it for a dev project but then I checked some public sites since we hadn’t made any changes to the markup in that area for a long while.

    I was just asked a vague question of "A user took our course in ZoomText and it crashed their software. Why might that be?" - our courses are mostly flash. Any ideas why that may be with that little info?

    I blame articulate (though I think the latest version finally creates HTML5 by default).

    Has anyone played with making footnotes accessible?

    @sophieschoice have you looks at DPUB-ARIA - https://www.w3.org/TR/dpub-aria-1.0/ ?
  14. (not that it will do anything yet - but it may be the right way to future proof)(

    [caesar] @sophieschoice This page contains a good discussion of the pertinent issues - https://www.sitepoint.com/accessible-footnotes-css/

    [melsumner] JS frameworks often attach actions to buttons; as such I am looking at a nav menu with buttons in the dropdown menu
  17. [melsumner] I'm not averse to this as such, except that 1. What should then get role=menuitem?
  18. [melsumner] And is there a different syntax for this that is preferred?
