[herin] @ugi I had this bookmarked sometime ago. Didn't check the key combinations myself.

  3. [herin] Hi All,
Has anyone used any Audio to Text transcription softwares? Otherwise, will you please be able to direct me to any organization that does the transcription services?

In terms of accuracy what's your feedback?

[karlgroves] @herin I’ve always used services for that, rather than software.

Dragon Naturally Speaking has the ability to transcribe from audio source files, but its recognition is terrible.

if you find reliable software, please share

[ooomph] Does anybody have any advice for changing the way your team thinks about accessibility?

I feel like I’m struggling to convince people that accessibility isn’t negotiable. People talk about it as if we’re catering to an “audience”. I’ve been asked how many people use screenreaders, when mentioning how our app is completely unusable without visuals, as if I have to prove accessibility work is worthwhile. From designers I’ve been told I can only do so much, as we don’t want to affect our aesthetic… I get the feeling people think I’m being naive thinking that we can change something that might not bring in cash.

    I’m getting really frustrated. :(

[johan] Show them their audience. Let them talk to real people. Invite someone to show what does and does not work in the product your making
  8. [johan] Try to build empathy. It works for me and the teams I work with
  9. [johan] Hope this helps you and your team too

    [deconspray] Table captions and links.
I have a scenario where visually displayed table captions have a linked footmark, pointing to a footnote on the same page. Thought this worked, yet recently tested and it doesn't. The link never receives focus. I've tested in multiple browsers & screen readers using a keyboard; none provide focusability. I've referenced the W3C spec on HTML5 and table captions; anchors are permissible in table captions. Yet they are not focusable/usable. Is this a real world fact and I should focus on alternatives, or am I missing something? (yes, this is a sanity check) TIA

[deconspray] @ooomph @johan is spot on. Building awareness is demonstrating the situations where design and development impact everyone, including individuals with disabilities. Real people using the products, apps, websites can shock, wow and inspire folks. There may be a few stragglers, but they will come around eventually through persistence and vigilance. Sometimes it also helps so how things that benefit people with disabilities also benefit able-bodied folks. Scenarios like captions on a TV in a gym, or a worker struggling to use a mobile app outdoors in the sun. The scenario and environment can be disabling as well. Good luck in your endeavor.
