    [veyfeyken] Looking for examples of tenders with accessibility as requirement, anyone?

    [veyfeyken] WAI has one sentence on this topic "Purchasing – Ensure that organizational accessibility policy is incorporated within procurement processes." https://www.w3.org/WAI/impl/plan.html
  3. [veyfeyken] All companies say/promise to deliver a WCAG compliant site. In most cases, that's not the case :)
  4. [veyfeyken] How do you formulate this in the tender to ensure they take this serious?
  5. [david.laforest] Check if there any legislation on web accessibility in your country like LAPHO in Canada or Section508 in USA
  6. [david.laforest] and align your situation with it

    [veyfeyken] I'm thinking more in the sense of:
    * can be tested or must be tested by third party
    * project isn't finished (will not be paid) until compliant
    * costs for adaptions afterwards cannot be charged
    * ...
  8. [veyfeyken] typo 'adaptations'

    [karlgroves] > costs for adaptions afterwards cannot be charged

    Nobody would sign that. That’s like signing up for unlimited scope creep

  10. [karlgroves] The CSU system (California State University) was sued several years ago. As a result, they put together a bunch of good procurement resources. I thought I had saved some as examples, but I can’t find them. Google should help point the way for you if you use something like “CSU accessibility procurement”

    [veyfeyken] How do you prevent this scenario:
    * Client: pls build accessible site
    * Company delivers site
    * Third party tests it, it's nowhere near accessible
    * Client: pls make changes to make the site accessible, see third party report
    * Company: "Those changes will cost x-thousand euros."
  12. [veyfeyken] Thx for the CSU tip
  13. [karlgroves] I think you’re on the right track. You need to put the requirements - including verification - in the contract. Then you have the legal standing to withhold payment.

    I’m not a lawyer but I’d imagine there also has to be some mechanism to refuse to accept delivery. Accepting delivery implicitly tells the vendor that things are OK
