Publishing Maintenance Working Group — Meeting Resolutions

Working group resolutions

Resolutions in 2025
- "roll" for rendition:layout for scrolled comics (Thu Oct 02 2025)
- Add AVIF to the EPUB package (Thu Oct 02 2025)
- Update EPUB Accessibility 1.0 to align with EPUB Accessibility 1.1, close issue 2526. (Thu Sep 18 2025)
- Change the version number of EPUB Accessibility and EPUB Accessibility Techniques 1.1.1 to 1.2, with new shortnames epub-a11y-12 and epub-a11y-tech-12, and the publication history listing 1.1.1 as the previous version. Publish a FPWD for both. (Thu Sep 18 2025)
- Deprecated features in EPUB 3.4 will be removed in future versions of the spec. (Thu Jun 26 2025)
- Publish the FPWDs of EPUB 3.4, EPUB Reading Systems 3.4, and EPUB Accessibility 1.1.1, with the shortnames epub-34, epub-rs-34, and epub-a11y-111 (Thu Mar 13 2025)
- Request new URL redirects for w3.org/TR/epub, w3.org/TR/epub3 and w3.org/TR/epub-3 to always point to the latest recommendation status version of the EPUB3 specification (Thu Mar 13 2025)
- Merge PR 2686. (Thu Feb 27 2025)
- Merge PR 2685, add dark mode to EPUB 3.4 drafts. (Thu Feb 27 2025)

- Republish EPUB 3.3, EPUB Reading Systems 3.3, and EPUB Accessibility 1.1 as Candidate Amendments (Fri Oct 04 2024)
Resolutions in 2023
- WG agrees to explore publishing to ISO when we have a new version of EPUB, EPUB Reading Systems, or EPUB Accessibility (Tue Sep 12 2023)
- WG agrees to publish the 3 recs as ISO standards under PAS process once the European Process is completed (Tue Sep 12 2023)
- Merge PR 2572 (Mon Sep 11 2023)
- Merge PR 2571, publish a new note for the Exemption property on oct 3, short name will be "epub-a11y-exemption" (Mon Sep 11 2023)

Working group face to face resolutions

Resolutions in 2025
- publish a new note entitled “EPUB Accessibility Techniques 1.1.1” and “EPUB 3 Overview”, with short names “epub-a11y-tech-111” and “epub-overview-34”, respectively, which will supersede the similar 1.1, respectively “3.3” versions of these note. (Fri Apr 04 2025)
- Create a PR for review that implements an HTML serialization for EPUB. (Thu Apr 03 2025)
